About MI Puzzles Sault Ste. Marie
This location has been a hub of activity for thousands of years. Native Americans fished and traded here long before Europeans arrived. Father Jacques Marquette started a Catholic Mission in 1668 and soon afterward the French established a fur trading post. Today, the city is known for the Soo Locks that transition ships up to 1,000 feet long between Lakes Superior and Huron. Huge amounts of raw materials make their way through the locks, with more tonnage passing through these locks than any other in the world.
